Adoption Policy

District Policy No. 2020: Course Design, Selection and Adoption of Instructional Materials outlines the roles and responsibilities for the School Board in the adoption of new educational materials. The policy states: The Board is legally responsible for the adoption of all basic education instructional materials and approval of materials for alternative programs (e.g. special education, career and technical education, alternative schools) used in the district. The primary objective in selecting instructional materials is to implement, enrich, and support the educational programs of the schools. All instructional materials shall be selected in conformance with applicable state and federal laws, goals and/or learning standards of the district and state, and procedures established by the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department.

2018-19 K-8 Math Curriculum Adoption

Battle Ground Public Schools is considering the adoption of “Bridges in Mathematics,” a comprehensive math curriculum for grades K-5, and “Illustrative Mathematics,” a comprehensive math curriculum for grades 6-8, and is inviting the public to provide comments.
The curriculum is available to review by appointment at the district office, please call (360) 885-5389 to make an appointment. Please note that the curricula are copyrighted, so you cannot duplicate, photograph, or remove any of the materials from the review space. Feedback can be submitted online. The last day to provide comments is April 26.
Battle Ground Public Schools is also currently reviewing curricula for the subject of

  • High school sexual health

A public review period of the recommended curricula will be announced on this web page and in the weekly Reminder email that is sent to district families.
