2017 Thoughtexchange: Weather Report

It’s time for a weather report! When we conducted our first Thoughtexchange community engagement survey in 2015, more than 2,500 of you shared your thoughts on the district’s strengths and challenges and provided valuable information that we incorporated into the district’s Strategic Plan. As the district transitions to a new superintendent, it’s time again to gather community feedback and get your input on how we are doing today. Please join the conversation and share your thoughts on these questions:

  • What are your concerns about our school or district this year?
  • What are some things you appreciate about our school or district this year?
  • What are some things you would like the students to be able to experience in Battle Ground Public Schools that they currently cannot?
  • What questions do you have about Battle Ground Public Schools?

Just as with past Thoughtexchange surveys, the process will be delivered in three steps. The Share and Star steps will happen by the end of the school year, and the Discover step will occur in the fall:

  • Share – Collection of ideas
  • Star – Consider other points of view
  • Discover – Learn what is important to the group

Sign up by June 18 to join the Star step and prioritize thoughts.

2016 Thoughtexchange: Facility Planning

Our Facilities Improvement Team (FIT) has put in many hours over the past year, examining the needs of our current facilities, seeking community input, engaging the services of several outside agencies, and doing their best to anticipate the future needs of our growing district. From the 1,916 stakeholders who contributed to the facilities conversation this year through Thoughtexchange, we learned about our strengths and the areas that we can improve. The FIT team incorporated these ideas into a draft long-range plan that includes three phases of work over the next 18 years.

Thank you for taking the time to support the school district and the community-led team in this process. Please feel free to contact the district’s communications department at (360) 885-5470 or communication@battlegroundps.org if you have any questions.

2015 Thoughtexchange: Strategic Planning

Thank you for sharing your voice.
In May 2015, BGPS engaged in its first Thoughtexchange process called a “Weather Report.” This process was developed in collaboration with the district’s strategic planning efforts to provide detailed information and community feedback for updating the strategic plan.
The process was delivered in three steps:
Share – Collection of ideas
Star – Consider other points of view
Discover – Learn what is important to the group
We’ve reviewed your Thoughts and priorities and now want to share the results with you.

The website will allow you to drill down into school specific areas for each question and view how fellow community members, parents and staff responded. Click the “Next” button on each page to view additional information.
From the 2,526 stakeholders who contributed, we learned about our strengths and the areas that we can improve.

Strategic Plan

The district’s Strategic Planning Committee comprised of school district staff and community members used the Thoughtexchange results to guide their work over the summer in updating our strategic plan. You can read more about the completed 2016 Strategic Plan online.
Again, thank you so much for contributing to the success of Battle Ground Public Schools. Your participation in the process was invaluable.
Sincerely,
Mark Hottowe, Superintendent
Battle Ground Public Schools
