2019-2020 School Calendars

Next year’s calendar is here (scroll down for this year’s calendars)! The 2019-2020 school calendar includes weekly late starts for teacher collaboration, the first and last days of the school year, breaks and holidays, graduation dates, snow/school closure make-up days and some early releases for parent-teacher conferences.

The key dates for 2019-20 include:

• First Day of School, Aug. 27
• Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 27–29
• Winter Break, Dec. 23–Jan. 3, 2020
• Spring Break, March 30, 2020–April 3, 2020
• Last Day of School, June 9, 2020

2018-2019 School Calendars

End of the School Year

This winter’s inclement weather resulted in north schools closing for three days and south schools closing for one. Battle Ground Public Schools has received approval from the state of Washington to waive one of the school days missed by students who attend north schools.
We have adjusted the schedule to use the snow makeup days built into the school calendar. We also adjusted the release times for the last four days of school so that only the final two days of the school year are early release days for students. The last day of school for south schools is June 17, and the last day of school for north schools is June 18. The calendar updates by school are:
South Schools (Prairie High School, Daybreak schools, Glenwood Heights Primary, Laurin Middle School, Maple Grove K-8, and Pleasant Valley schools).

• June 13: Full day of school
• June 14: Early release day
• June 17: Early release and last day of school
• Also note that June 5 is a 1-hour late start day, and June 6-7 are K-8 early release days. The last day of school for Cascadia Technical Academy is June 14.

North Schools (Battle Ground High School, Amboy Middle School, Captain Strong Primary, Chief Umtuch Middle School, Tukes Valley schools, Yacolt Primary, Summit View High School, and CAM Academy).
June 13: Full day of school

• June 14: Full day of school
• June 17: Early release day
• June 18: Early release and last day of school
• Also note that June 5 is a 1-hour late start day, and June 6-7 are K-8 early release days. The last day of school for Cascadia Technical Academy is June 14.

The BGPS Board of Directors approved an adjusted calendar for the school year. Graduation dates are the same.
Please note that state law requires the school year to consist of at least 180 school days AND a minimum number of instructional hours. Waivers are only permitted for closures due to acts of nature (e.g., inclement weather).
